Pure Grenada Music Festival - a Proud Moment for All Grenadians

St. George’s Grenada, April 25, 2016: Since April 2015, Grenada has waited with bated breath for this “first of its kind one of a kind event” as dubbed during the year of waiting.  The week of April 5th has been come and gone to overwhelmingly positive feedback about the first and lasting positive impression this event has created in Grenada, the region and the rest of the world.

Indeed, as a first time event the team is pleased to confirm that several of the event’s key objectives have been met. Among these are the showcasing of Grenadian musicians at an international standard; adding value to destination Grenada with a quality product; the positioning of ecological awareness – our environmental footprint – within a cultural and entertainment space; fostering collaboration and ownership – critical to the long term success of the festival - across a vast range of stakeholders.

Acknowledgement and appreciation are due to many for the numerous and significant contributions made to the first Pure Grenada Music Festival.  Such was the outpouring of support which continues even post event, that while names cannot be cited individually, gratitude must be expressed to the following:

Steering Committee of the Pure Grenada Music Festival who generously gave of their time and wisdom; the Government of Grenada for the unwavering support and courtesies graciously extended through numerous Ministries during planning and execution of the event; family, friends and founders for believing in the dream and committing to making it a reality through contribution of “seed funding”; sponsors whose financial support ensured the delivery of a international event of exceptional calibre; suppliers and service providers for the active demonstration of confidence in the Pure Grenada Music Festival through continued partnerships and increased support; volunteers for their tireless enthusiasm and big hearts; and finally, artistes for active engagement in lead up to the festival and flawless performances during; all media entities and individuals for spreading the word; patrons for participating the experience and your subsequent suggestions for improving.

The Pure Grenada Music Festival thanks all for sharing the vision, the journey and especially the outpouring of wonderful encouragement to pursue the dream of creating opportunity for the phenomenal musicians of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique.

Disposable Permanence

Our Story

One of the challenges of 'Going Green' is that we don't often see and understanding how much waste we actually produce in our societies nor its impact on us and our environment. Disposable Permanence is a large scale art installation focused on this issue. It is being constructed out of bamboo, discarded plastic waste, LED lights and bicycle parts and powered by renewable energy. Disposable Permanence will be one of the main attracts at the Festival Village at the 1st Pure Grenada Music Festival (April 5th-10th) organized by non-profit organization, Music & Beyond. The booths, displays and art of the festival village at the big lawn at Port Louis, St. George, will be open to the public on Wed. 6th & Thurs 7th April, so many schools are planning field trips to get involved in activities about environmental sustainability. 

Festival Fever

Festival Fever Ticket Special for Residents, Students & Cruisers. Select two concerts (excluding Jazz Night & VIP tickets) and pay EC$135/US$47. Promotion expires 1st April. GATE PRICES All standard and concession tickets will increase to EC$150/US$56 24 hours before the start of each concert.

Westerhall Rums Grenada Pure Grendada Music Festival Cocktail Challenge

Westerhall Rums Grenada Pure Grendada Music Festival Cocktail Challenge March 24th, 5pm Umbrellas Beach Bar Grenada - Bartenders from all over Grenada will produce two amazing rum cocktails; a Spicy Cocktail & Free Style Cocktail; all of which must contain a blend of Westerhall Rums; for judging and sampling by two teams of experienced judges.

Prizes will be awarded to the TOP three bartenders, the TOP cocktail in each Category and the OVERALL TOP COCKTAIL of which will be featured at the 2016 Pure Grenada Music Festival.

Bar men and women with experience of making cocktails and other mixed drinks are all welcome to apply. Entry is free and all contenders will be provided with beverages, fruit and spices by the hosts Umbrellas Beach Bar. Competition rules will be provided to all approved applicants.
